Emergency Rooms

1 September 2009 Comments

I spent six hours in the emergency room last night. The allergic reaction to the shrimp I had last week finally won. Yes, you CAN have a delayed reaction the doctor told me. I’d been fighting it with Benedryl, but my body would not put up with it. When my right eye swelled shut and I was covered with whelps and red bumps the size of dimes from head to toe and my throat started swelling shut I gave up and went in. After IV’s of Benedryl, a shot of adreneline and some Xanax I passed out.

I had an awesome, awesome nurse, Sharon Judd. Best ever. When I woke up groggy and disoriented three hours later - but breathing again, they pulled all the heart and breathing stuff off and sent me on my way after I promised to sleep in the parking lot in my van. See? Good things!

The nighttime temp here in Virginia was 64 last night. PERFECT sleeping weather! And I slept till 8:30 this morning! Life is GREAT!! I’m alive, breathing, have a prescription for steroids to stop the next wave of hives the doc expects today….Then, off to finish some projects for clients. The rest of the week is supposed to be 74/64 degrees all week. So this is MY week to do great things, sleep well and start posting more stories.
