I'm a storyteller, a photographer, a designer. I was a journalist for 23 years, a freelance writer since my 20s, and a photographer/photojournalist since I was 14 years old.
I've been a police officer, massage therapist, graphic designer, and raft guide too. Of all the things I love to do, telling people's stories is my favorite.
I've been successful and a failure. I was homeless for 18 months, then spoke about it at TED GLOBAL in 2009, as the guest of best-selling author Dan Pink. There is always a silver lining in all that happens to us, and finding it and sharing that process can be the most powerful story we tell ourselves and others.
