Keeping Out The Bears

Donna Howell-Sickles is one of my favorite artists. When I get my RV/trailer, I’m having one of her prints, or a mash-up of her work, repainted on it….She’s my favorite because her visuals send an unexpected, but very effective message - like this one - “Keeping Out The Bears.” More than an artist, Donna is a storyteller. I often think about what the story in this painting is. There are so many.

Baby Bunnies and the Uncertainty of Life

I’m couch surfing with a friend while waiting for my hives to subside and the weather to cool off enough so I can get back on the road. Right after dinner one of her cats brought an animal into the house. It struggled in the hallway until I got up to see what it had. Koko is My Co-Pilot

Since I’ve received a couple of emails asking about my dog, this post is for her. If you haven’t seen her yet, my “co-pilot” and fearless security sentinel is “Koko,” a full-bred, female, German Rottweiler. Breeders tell me she has “perfect confirmation,” and an admirably large head - which is why most people mistake her for a he.
She is shy, without the aggressive and confident stance of a show Rottie, which is why some jerk turned her into a breeder dog way back when in some puppy mill somewhere. …
