If You’re Absent During My Struggle…

This has to be one of my all time favorite quotes because it’s SO true.

People who avoid you when you’re hurting are the first ones in line to want a piece of your success when you turn your life around.

Every time I hear from someone who blew me off, shunned, bullied, or criticized me when I was living and struggling in my van, or looking for a job, or without food, money or a warm, safe place to sleep I’m always amazed they have the hutzpah to contact me after telling me, “I don’t want anything to do with you,” or “I don’t want to be friends with someone who’s living in a van.”

Not only that, 99 times out of 100 when they find me online, they want to ask for a favor, or money, or to “be friends now.”

To those of you who have called, written, emailed or contacted me after dumping, ignoring, shunning, bullying or abusing me in some way: I have three words for you:

“Go Pound Sand.”

I’m always stunned that people are so clueless, narcissistic and brazen. They ignore, bully, abuse, belittle and take others for granted and then somehow think that all is forgotten and forgiven when they show up years later wanting a piece of the pie. It’s too late to change the past and knowing the past? I know what the future holds. You haven’t changed. And I know it.

Have a life.

But it doesn’t, won’t and will never include me.
