Not $49! Not $29! Not $19! ONLY $7 dollars!

A “friend” I hadn’t spoken to in five years found me online last month and said he “just wanted to catch up.” Well, he didn’t really want to catch up. A journalist like me, he just got laid off and was panicking. He needed to find work online writing - since that’s all he knows how to do. So he emailed me. After the “So how are you? He asked me all kinds of questions about how I found writing sites online, what was involved, what did he need to do - all that sort of stuff.

I spent several hours or so detailing it all in an email and sent it off to him. I didn’t get as much as a thank you for two weeks. Then he wrote me back. “I don’t need this now. I found a job.” That’s it. No “Thank you,” no “This was so helpful,” but simply, “I don’t need this now.” And then the light dawned on me.

After years of getting friends and strangers started making a living writing for a living I have been pretty successful at coaching others. But I learned that the only people who actually benefit are the ones who take the information seriously and go on and do something with it. The ones that complain it doesn’t “work” are the ones who don’t do the work! I work at writing about 10 hours a week - 40 hours a month and I make enough money to live on, pay my bills and spend the rest of my time working on my own projects or working out at the gym! 10 hours!!

The information I give people is quite good! But people are lazy. They don’t really want to spend the time doing the basic stuff it takes to get started (and trust me it’s not that hard!). But for the ones who are serious - the information is GOLDEN! I wish I’d known all this two years ago when I started writing and trying to make a living online. I wouldn’t have had to struggle as much as I did!

The other thing I realized is that people mostly want to listen to me talk until they’ve decided that they can use something I’ve said to “get rich quick.” They don’t want any advice that is hard to implement. If it sounds like too much work they nod and smile and go find something else to do - which is fine - except that they just wasted an hour of my time. I can’t make more time. Neither can you. Time is finite. Fixed.

Well, that whole thing made me mad. I was trying to help and just wasted an hour of my time trying to show him a proven plan. He didn’t see the value of what I was offering. Few do. If they did, they’d be grateful for the information. Did you ever notice that your friends don’t take anything you have to offer seriously? Even Jesus said a “Prophet is not welcome in his own land.”

I hate wasting anything - especially my time. So now YOU benefit! I decided to take that information, the same information I was giving to friends for the cost of a cup of coffee while they picked my brain, and let some other folks in on what I’ve learned. I’m going to charge my friends my regular hourly rate - $125 if they want to talk, and then point them to the book. Maybe then they’ll take the information seriously.

I took the email I sent my friend, and I cleaned it up. I added a lot more stuff and put it all into an ebook. So now you can have that information for $7, the cost I’d charge a really good friend for taking me to McDonald’s to buy me lunch, or to Starbucks for a cup of coffee so they could pick my brains about what the opportunities there are for making money online. Because of this one selfish friend YOU get to benefit! He was looking for security in an employer rather than his own abilities, but you recognize that some timely information and tips could have you making money online in a week! I’m not about to just delete that email and all the information in it. I worked too hard on it. His loss is your gain! It all depends on you though.

You can skim through it, (15 minutes) and walk away as he did, not realizing how valuable the information is, or you can take the time and really read and study it and then go out and implement the “Get Started” steps I outline.

The way I figure it, if you buy this book I saved us both the calories of a big fatty meal, the waste of time sitting in traffic to drive to the restaurant and back, or a long-distance phone call and my consulting fee ($125) just for you to decide if this really sounds like something you’d like to pursue. I can tell you this - I make my living online and it’s worked for me. That’s the key word - work. You can make as much money as you want, but you have to have the discipline, show up and do it. That’s it! No tricks, no gimmicks. Just clean old-fashioned work and stick-to-it-ness.
